The
word Mustang is of Spanish origin and means "ownerless" or "stray
horses” because in the early 1800's herds of these magnificent beasts
were often seen in North America without riders. These small, quick,
muscular horses helped the American Indians in their everyday life, even
so far as giving the United States Army a “run for the money” in battle.
At South Western High School we take great pride in calling ourselves
“Mustangs,” not because we are confrontational but because we are extremely proud
of our heritage and accomplishments! Our faculty, staff, students, and
community strive to work together to make our school the best it can
possibly be. Whether academically, athletically, or socially, South
Western High School is a place where students have the opportunity to
explore their talents and excel with assistance from the “entire
village.”
As Principal, I welcome feedback and suggestions that will help us
continue to meet the needs of our students. My open door policy is
extended to anyone who wishes to share ideas. Please feel free to
contact me any time. Have a great year!
Go Mustangs!
