South Western School district is located in the beautiful south western region of York County. We are proud to serve the communities of Penn, Manheim, and West Manhein townships, covering a population of over 27,000 residents and counting.

South Western High School operates under a 4X4 semester block scheduling design and features a broad curriculum of over 150 different courses, including advanced placement and independent studies. Emory H Markle Intermediate School specializes in the instructional and developmental needs of early adolescents through the use of interdisciplinary teams, standards-aligned curriculum in all subject areas, standards-based grading and assessment practices, and individualized and personalized instruction based on the needs and interests of our students.

Our four elementary schools emphasize differentiated instruction with a focus on the individual strengths and needs of each student utilizing standards-based grading and assessment practices. We offer an outstanding literacy program for learners in grades K-5 which focuses on guided reading, on-level reading, word work and writing with the goal of all learners reading on grade level by the end of third grade. Our Everyday Mathematics program for grades K-5 focuses on Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Numbers and Operations, Measurement and Data, and Geometry.

Our goal is to help nurture and develop the individual strengths of each student and to create a dynamic community of lifelong learners.
