Coronavirus - April 30 Update #10

Coronavirus - April 30 Update #10
Posted on 04/30/2020

As we close the books on April and look forward to May, I would like to thank all of you who have completed the district survey regarding our distance learning program. We appreciate all of the feedback you have provided and want to let you know we are in the process of reviewing it as we
strive to improve our program. We reset the survey each week in order to continue gathering your feedback. We understand you are all extremely busy, so any feedback you can provide on the survey each week is appreciated.

I would also like to take a moment and thank all of our teachers for their work as we transitioned to a whole new way of school over the past several weeks. It just so happens that next week, May 4, 2020 – May 8, 2020, is National Teacher Appreciation Week. Please join me in letting our teachers know how much they are appreciated. In addition to thanking our teachers, our administrative team would like to extend our gratitude a little further this year. We certainly appreciate and are grateful for all of the work being done by our teachers and staff; we are also grateful and in awe of all the work you, our parents and guardians, have done on behalf of your students. This crisis has placed a tremendous amount of demands on all our families, many of which we would not face in our ordinary routines. In some capacity, you are all now teachers, and we recognize our students are benefitting from your support. So, on behalf of our entire team, thank you for joining the ranks of our teachers and making sure our commitment to our students is stronger than ever. To all our teachers, including our parents/guardians – Thank you!

Our lunch schedule will remain the same of the upcoming week (5/4/2020 – 5/8/2020). Lunches will be distributed on Monday, May 4, 2020, Wednesday, May 6, 2020 and Friday, May 8, 2020. The time of distribution will remain the same, which will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in front of the HS. As always, thanks to our food service team for their support of this effort. We are grateful for their hard work and dedication.

I would also like to remind our families about our modified student schedule for tomorrow, May 1, 2020. The schedule is modified so students will only be attending school in the morning. As we communicated in the recent past, our teachers will be involved in professional development activities tomorrow afternoon. The activities are designed for teachers to continue their planning and preparation of the curriculum and instruction being delivered in our  distance learning format. We also believe this is a time for our students and our families to take an opportunity to “unplug” from their assignments.

We are excited to let our families and community know we are launching a new district website! We believe the design is user friendly and contains access to a large amount of district information. We have worked with the developers to provide access to a great deal of district information in as few
clicks as possible. Like any new tool, it will take some time for all of us to become used to the new format, but we are confident it will prove beneficial to our community in the long run. The new site is available at the same web address as our previous site. The address is Please take a moment to visit the site and navigate your way around the information. We anticipate the site will be live beginning tomorrow afternoon (5/1/2020). A big thank you to Mr. Greenholt, our Director of Technology, for his work in making sure our new site is up and running ahead of our anticipated launch date!

One other exciting item I would like to share with our  community. Our HS music department is working to put on a virtual concert!!! We all know, more than ever, how music can help us through these challenging times. And, who better to perform for our community than our Mustang Musicians! Our talented teachers are working with our amazing students to compile past performances along with
some newly recorded performances into a montage of pieces for our community to access at their leisure through our Mustang Vision Channel. I am beyond excited to see this performance. We have not established a firm date at this point, but you will certainly let you know when it is ready to debut. Please share this wonderful news with your Mustang family and friends – it will be available for viewing anywhere a person has internet access. Please join me in offering a sincere thank you to our students and our teachers who are working hard to make this performance a reality. Stay tuned!!

Finally, as we end this communication, I would like to  encourage our families to continue visiting our
Distance Learning Website Page for the most up to date information for each of our schools. I would also again like to express our most sincere thanks for all of your support and hard work during this crisis. Please stay safe and healthy.
