Coronavirus - May 14 Update #12

I am hopeful you all were able to enjoy the virtual concert that was placed on Mustang Vision last night. It is another example of the amazing talent our students possess. I hope it provided everyone with a boost as we move closer to the end of the school year. Please remember it is still available on Mustang Vision for the next several weeks, so you can go back and view it multiple times. Again, thank you to all our students and teachers who were involved in this outstanding effort. It was the perfect lift at the perfect time. #SWexcellence!

Tomorrow, our district will once again use the afternoon time of the instructional day for teacher professional development activities. Students will not be required to participate in instructional activities tomorrow afternoon, and based on a favorable weather forecast, it is our hope students will be able to get outside for some fresh air while following all of the CDC and PA Department of Health
Guidelines.

One question that has come up for our district is related to the return of student property. As you all know, as of this moment, York County remains in the red color designation and prevents gatherings of 10 or more people. However, we are hopeful York County will soon be in the yellow zone which allows us to increase the amount of individuals permitted to gather to accomplish essential tasks. Therefore, in anticipation of moving to yellow status, we are developing a schedule to assemble limited staff in the buildings, following all health guidelines, to package student property for return. Once this process is completed, we anticipate sending instructions to our families regarding the
procedures for returning student and district owned property. At this time, we are proposing the first full week of June for this exchange, if not sooner. We are asking all families to continue checking your email and the distance learning website for updates.

The procedures for the return of property will include parents and students remaining in their cars and opening the trunk of the automobile allowing a district employee to place the student’s property into the trunk while maintaining recommended social distancing. If you have any district property to return (i.e. textbooks), please place the property in a bag and leave it in your trunk. A district employee will
retrieve the district’s property at the same time they are returning your student’s property. All families will be asked to drive to their student’s buildings to complete the returns at a specific time. If you have a conflict with the time you have been assigned, and/or have students at multiple buildings, please contact the building principals for additional options. Finally, there will be staff and signage at each
building during these days to clearly identify the procedures. This will be a methodical process and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these final steps for the 2019-2020 school year.

Next week we will continue with our meal distribution at the high school. As in previous weeks, the meals will be distributed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. We continue
to be grateful to Ms. Gauss and her team for their commitment to our students. I know I have said it before, but it bears repeating, they are an amazing group of individuals.

I would once again like to thank all of our families who continue to participate in our weekly survey regarding the distance learning program. We review the information as a district administrative team and make adjustments as needed. Please click
here for access to the updated survey. Also, we ask all families to continue visiting our distance learning website for the most up to date information from our buildings.

In closing, we are grateful for your ongoing support of our students and our district. We benefit from your input, support and dedication to our community. Together our partnership has strengthened our community and has laid the path forward. Stay safe and stay healthy!
