YAIAA Pesss Release

Dear Mustang Families,
It goes without saying that I certainly both realize and understand the anguish that this pandemic has caused for us all, including our South Western student-athletes. With that said, please review the press release below from the YAIAA League Executive Director regarding the start of fall sports. As has been the case throughout this process, our coaches and I will continue to update you with more specific details as they become available. I thank you and wish for your continued safety.

YAIAA announces fall sports delayed until September 4, 2020
York, Pa. — August 6, 2020

On August 6, 2020, the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association announced that, because of the ongoing concerns surrounding the COVID pandemic the start of the fall sports seasons will be delayed until September 4, 2020.

The first official date of fall practices will begin September 4 for all sports.

Football heat acclimation will begin August 31.

The first date of competition will be as follows:
-Football September 18; Golf, September 8; Tennis, September 9
-All other sports competition can begin September 24
-This includes all Junior High fall sports
-There will be NO scrimmages
-Offseason workouts may continue as planned

This initiative was passed by a vote of the 23 league schools, 22-1.

The recommendation was made by the YAIAA executive board, with careful consideration of what other leagues within District 3 and the PIAA have announced.
