As Assistant to the Superintendent for Instructional Support, Dr. Cynthia L. Renehan’s role encompasses both the Special Education and Pupil Services Departments. Dr. Renehan holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary, Special Education and Early Childhood Education from Millersville University, a Master’s in Special Education from McDanial College and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Temple University.
Dr. Renehan served as a special education teacher for 15 years and a principal for eight years before moving into her current position.
Dr. Renehan believes that all children can learn and strives to support general and special educators in assisting students to receive appropriate adaptations to the general education curriculum. In addition, modifications to the curriculum are provided to assist students requiring more specific support in order to make meaningful progress. Dr. Renehan provides monthly support to building level data teams to review student progress, behavioral support to ensure active student participation in classroom settings, and professional development monthly to personal care assistants working with students that require intensive individualized support.
Dr. Renehan is delighted with parental support and involvement in the special education/pupil services process, thrilled to support such a highly motivated staff that is willing to go above and beyond for each student, and honored to assist students working to reach their individual potential.
