In his role as Director of Facilities, Nate Osborne oversees the Building Operations and Maintenance Department. He is charged with ensuring an environment that is safe, secure and conducive to learning. On a daily basis, along with the help of approximately 50 support staff; custodians, maintenance and grounds crew, Nate’s team keeps 760,000+ square feet of district facilities clean and in good repair to support the educational mission. This department, in a supporting role, also coordinates the use of thousands of student and community activities on a yearly basis on our 194 acres and within our six educational buildings. A large portion of Nate’s time is devoted to developing long range plans and subsequently overseeing district capital improvements.
Nate attended Penn State University and received a Bachelor’s in Architectural Engineering in 1990. Returning from college, he worked in Maryland for five years as a construction supervisor before starting his own construction business in 1995. His business grew from small residential projects to performing commercial projects of up to 115,000 square feet. After 20 years as a small business owner, Nate found the opportunity of being part of ‘something bigger’ appealing and found that in his current role.
Nate is married to his high school sweetheart, Beth. The two built a home in South Western School District where they raised their three children. All three are proud South Western grads and in various stages of pursuing careers through a Penn State education. Throughout his life, Nate has played and enjoys numerous sports. Most of his spare time is spent on outdoor activities or working on vintage Mopars and Harleys.
